                                                         Reflection on Weserville

This past week in Econ class, the first week of school we did many things such as read the syllabus, discover the classroom, complete thought questions, figured out the new Google drive,  talked about Weserville, and began doing things with it.  I thought that the activities with Weserville were the most interesting and fun.  First we learned about Weserville, the people, the land, the stores, etc.  Then we made up the person we were going to be in this town and what our occupations would be.  Then we were told we were getting ten million dollars to do whatever we wanted with part of the land.  Each group decided on what they think this land should be used for and we agreed on two, now in the process of discussing the two decisions.  I thought this was the most interesting and fun of the week because it allowed us to use our imagination and put in our own ideas.  This project of Weserville could easily relate to other things we are going to talk about in class because it deals with money, products, decisions, what is best for something, and limitations.

  1. Working with Weserville is a great way to help us for our future. Being able to figure out a way to use the money we are given and what to do with it. I'm also glad that we get to experience this for Econ instead of "out-of-the-book" learning.

  2. The way we debated and got to experience weserville was very realistic other than just deciding what to do with the 10 million dollars it was good that we all got to debate and research.

  3. Thats a good point Weserville has everything that we are going to learn in the class it looks like like we started off with the money project and how to spend it. I agree with you saying that we will deal with money, products, decision because in this Weserville project we have definitely cover all of the points you have listed(:

  4. I agree with all the above. Weserville does cover everything that we are going to learn in econ this semester. It also allows you to learn some extra things along the way. Yesterday for example we debated and voted and ran it all like a town council meeting. the whole Weserville experiment is a good way to teach us a how a town actually runs and how decisions and choices, and other economic factors affect everything in a town.

  5. I agree with this. Weserville can help us later on to relate to particular decisions we eventually have to make. It gave us an realistic look on what we have to do in the future.
